Meet The Entourage {The Primary Gal!}

Hey there! I'm so happy to introduce myself on this fabulous new blog full of fantastic elementary teachers.  I wish telling you what I taught was a simple process, but it's not.  So here I go.  I am currently teaching fifth grade but have been just about everywhere in my two and a half short years.  I began by teaching special education with grades kindergarten through three.  I was in LOVE!!!  I walked away from my first year of teaching thinking that this is where I would spend my career.  What's that saying, when you make a plan, God laughs?!?!  So true!  Everything changed when I received a phone call about a week before school started to inform me I was needed with a difficult class in fourth grade.  Can you say panic attack?  So, the following year, I taught fourth and fifth grade special education.  I began the year thinking that there was NO possible way I could ever enjoy it as much as the previous year.  Let me tell you.....I did!  Near the end of the school year, I received a call for an interview from my hometown elementary school, teaching fifth grade general education.  In case you were wondering, I am also in love with this position this year and can't wait to see where I end up next year....hopefully still in my current position.  I would love to know the joys of repeating and improving myself from year to year.

Now to the serious stuff....my family!  I have two amazing girls and an amazing husband.  He seriously supports me in any crazy endeavor that pops into my head, including blogging and selling on TpT!  He is also a teacher and helps me brainstorm ideas, proofread products, and listen to long talks about TpT and blogging that I KNOW he doesn't care about!

My girls are five and two years old and are an absolute handful....but I wouldn't trade it for the world!  They are smart, playful girls who always know what they want.  I hope they always keep their strong, independent attitudes...even if it is a little frustrating at times!  :)

As for my blog and TpT store, I feel that I have finally found my niche.  Being in general education has allowed me to hone in on one grade level and subject.  At my school, we are departmentalized, meaning I only teach math, science, and social studies while my teaching partner teaches all reading, writing, and grammar.  Since I come from a special education background, it is my passion to find ways to differentiate!  I always ask myself, "Are all of the kids doing the same thing at the same time?"  That answer is rarely yes.  I also use a flipped classroom model because our fifth grade students have one to one iPads.  I LOVE this concept because it gives me more class time and allows students to receive more individualized instruction.  Just to give you an idea of my work, why not share a FREEBIE of one of my newest products?!?!  :)
